About Steve Ullum
Steve Ullum’s motivation for serving as the next JCPS District 3 school board member goes far beyond his interest in representing the students and parents of Jefferson County. As a lifelong resident of Louisville and graduate of the Jefferson County Public School system, he has witnessed many changes in our school system, and now, as a single father, he is even more concerned with the safety and education of JCPS students.
Steve’s greatest joy and accomplishment has been raising his eleven-year-old daughter. Steve has always taken an active role in her education from being a Class Parent for her elementary school to volunteering at nearly every one of her school events. Steve also served on the PTA board for two years and was elected to the Site-Based Decision-Making council. Refusing to sit on the sidelines any longer and simply watch as the quality of education and student safety has declined over the past two years, Steve pushed to reopen schools and has become a vocal advocate for the rights of students and parents, whom he believes is the “heartbeat of our school system.” Steve’s vision is that JCPS will one day be the school district of choice for parents and students.
His work as a licensed realtor in Kentucky and Southern Indiana has taught him the value of serving the public and the importance of listening to the needs of others. He will apply those same values to his role as a school board representative. As your JCPS school board representative for District 3, Steve will once again prioritize safety and education in our public schools. Parents, students, and taxpayers alike deserve to be heard and will once again have a voice in the important decisions that affect our children and our community.
